Connacht Track & Field
A big day ahead this Saturday as 55 of our young athletes take part at the Connacht Juvenile T+F in Sligo for the Children’s Team Games and Under 12-13 age groups. Juvenile and Little Athletics continues on Friday evening at 6.30pm.
All-Ireland Schools finals
The All-Ireland Schools finals saw plenty of good performances in Tullamore on Saturday with club members among the many athletes in action. Emma Brennan, of Moyne CS, claimed a superb fifth place in the minor girls 800m in a personal best time of 2:25. Ardscoil Phádraig’s Funmi Talabi almost won bronze when finishing an excellent fourth in the inter girls 100m with 12.63 seconds.
The Moyne CS minor girls 4 x 100m relay team of Emma Brennan, Kelly Davis, Mia Kiernan and Martha Miney combined well for a quick time of 55.56 for sixth place. Mercy Ballymahon’s Aisling Lane won gold in the inter girls 2000m walk. Aisling, also of Mullingar Harriers, was a clear winner in 9:47.
Cork Marathon
On the roads, John Scott and Michael O’Hara made the trip south for Sunday’s Cork Marathon and recorded good times with John finishing in 2:58 and Michael crossing the line in 3:33.
