Royal Canal Camino Walk
The inaugural walk took place on Saturday last and was a great success. Our thanks to all that participated with a number travelling from far and wide as well as the many local walkers. The walk certainly showcased a lot of the great natural scenery in County Longford. We look forward to hosting the event again in 2023. All proceeds go towards the fundraising for the club’s new indoor athletics centre. Many thanks to everyone that helped out, ably led by event co-ordinator Sinead Creegan, and to St. Mel’s College which was event HQ.
Indoor Centre
A milestone week in the 53-year history of Longford Athletics Club with the opening of the indoor centre at St. Mel’s College. This marks the culmination of many years of hard work towards providing a top-class facility in the county. Our thanks to all that helped the club fulfil this development in whatever way. We look forward to seeing our club members develop their athletic talents over time. It is also an important addition to the College itself and to other schools in the town and county. The facility can be an amenity for other sporting and community groups in the locality to avail of and there are opportunities to rent out the space at different times of the week.
