Dublin Marathon
Excellent performances by club members over the 26.2 miles on Sunday in the capital as part of the 41st Dublin Marathon. The event, which incorporates the National Championships, saw a brilliant bronze medal achieved by Paddy Sharkey in running 2:33 for third place in the M45 category. Congratulations to Paddy whose national medal is just reward for his dedication to training having overcome injury in the past year.
Colin Beades was next Longford man across the line setting a new PB with a strong 2:50 clocking. John Scott completed his eleventh marathon of the year with his 2:53 in Dublin the fastest of the lot. Only two weeks on from Ironman Cascais, Enda Coffey and Sean Crossan were back in action and both ran well. Anne Brady and Edel Mooney paced it nicely for another good run over the marathon distance. Strong showings also by Mick O’Hara, Stephen McDermott, Seamus Murtagh, Juraj Karcak, Claire Wynne, John Farrell and Little Athletics coaches Maureen Finn and Philip Bannister who were all among the 15,000 finishers at another great Dublin Marathon event.
