Yemi Talabi and her University of Texas Arlington teammates ran a swift 44.36 seconds for the 4 x 100m relay last weekend in Arkansas at the NCAA West Regionals. This placed the team inside the qualification spots for the Nationals to be held next week at the famous Hayward Field in Oregon. The newly renovated stadium will also host the World Athletics Championships in July.

Last week, Nelvin Appiah finished a fine seventh place overall in the decathlon at the NJCAA National Championships in Kansas with a total score of 6117 points after the ten events. Highlights were a first place in the 100m with 10.71, second in the 110m hurdles and clearing 2.00m in the high jump for third.

Connacht Track & Field
Club juvenile competition will take place over two days at IT Sligo. On 11 June, the Children’s Team Games and Under 12-13 age groups are scheduled while 18 June is for the Under 14 – 19 ages. The Senior, Junior and Masters event will be in Athlone on 12 June.

All-Ireland School’s track finals
Good luck to club members taking part at the All-Ireland School’s track finals in Tullamore on Saturday. We also wish our club members well that are running in the Cork Marathon this Sunday.
