Cross Country
Tramore Racecourse hosted the National Juvenile Uneven Ages and the Novice Championships on Sunday. Five club members made the long trip south with Rian McCaffrey (pictured) recording an excellent 13th place in the U15 3500m. This resulted in Rian achieving a bronze medal as one of the Connacht athletes finishing third in the provincial team event.
Julie Taitt endured both a fall and a lost spike in the U13 2500m but gave it her all to finish in good position.
Strong runs also by Emma Brennan in the U17 girls 4500m and Dylan Ledwith U17 boys 4500m.
Barry Sheil placed well in the men’s 6000m.
Sports Star Awards
Congratulations to Fiona Gettings, Andrew Fitzpatrick and Robin Og Murphy who were among the recipients of awards last Saturday night at the Longford Sports Star Awards. Our thanks to Longford Leader, Longford Sports Partnership and Longford Arms Hotel for a great event.
AGM
The club’s Annual General Meeting took place at the indoor centre on Sunday evening December 1. Thanks to all that attended.
In his Chairperson’s address; John Fitzpatrick extended gratitude to the club committee, coaches and volunteers for their time and dedication in what has been a busy year.
Carol Kennedy, in her Secretary’s report, highlighted the various events engaged in by the club over the year.
Treasurer Barry Sheil outlined the club’s finances and also, in his PRO Juvenile report, provided a review of a successful year of competition by members.
PRO Senior officer John Scott did likewise for the senior section of the club.
