Moylurg Open
The inaugural Moylurg Open cross country took place in Lough Key Forest Park on Sunday providing ideal preparation for those competing at February’s National championships. With the challenges brought on by Storm Éowyn, the numbers attending was lower than expected and for most in attendance the event was some time away from the frustrations of power and water outages at home.

The 1500m distance saw Julie Taitt lead from start to finish running very well throughout. Next home was her sister Sarah with Emily Weafer finishing a second later to complete a top 3. Rian McCaffrey took on the pace from the outset in the all ages 4000m race taking the win with a strong performance. Also showing good form was

Emma Brennan as first lady home and second finisher overall. Sinead Nolan, Edel Nolan and Jacqueline Mahon showed the benefits of the recent club sessions with excellent runs completing the distance strongly. The final race off was at 7000m with Barry Sheil placing second while Gary Brady put in a good performance to come through and position well at the finish.

Raheny 5
Nearly 3000 took to the roads of Dublin’s northside for the Raheny 5 mile which is one of the biggest races in the capital. Among the large crowd was Nathan Fitzmaurice running well in clocking 37:20.
