Connacht Schools
Congratulations to Emma Brennan of Moyne CS on winning the minor girls 800m at the Connacht Schools finals in Athlone last Thursday. Emma set a new best time for the distance with 2:26 and can look forward to the All-Irelands on 4 June. She also featured in the Moyne 4 x 100m relay team alongside Kelly Davis, Mia Kiernan and Martha Miney that also qualified for Tullamore following a good second-place finish.

Roads Round-up
The Enfield 5k last week produced plenty of fast times with Paddy Sharkey first Longford runner home in an excellent 16:17 for third place in his age category. Ciarán Madden clocked a quick 16:20 and Declan Newman finished in 18:09. Adrianna Mulligan ran a superb 17:12 and was followed by Fiona Gettings whose swift 17:49 earned her third for her age category. Edel Mooney recorded another good time with 18:21. Adrianna, Fiona and Edel’s strong runs combined for a fine third-place finish in the women’s team standings. Fiona backed it up with a third-place finish at the Aisling Murphy 4 Mile in Tullamore on Sunday in 23:44.

In Ballina on Saturday, John Scott was back racing over the half marathon setting another good time in 1:24.

Track & Field
The Connacht Juvenile Track and Field Championships will take place over two days at IT Sligo. On Saturday 11 June, competition will be for the Children’s Team Games and Under 12-13 age groups while Saturday 18 June is when the Under 14 – 19 competition is scheduled. The Connacht Senior, Junior and Masters event will be in Athlone on Sunday 12 June.
