Be Active Night 5k: This Saturday evening, 25 September, a 5km run/walk will take place in Longford in association with Longford Sports Partnership. The ‘Be Active Night – Ready, Set, Glow’ event starts and finishes at Longford Slashers GAA taking in a lap of the canal loop. Entry is free and registration is to be completed online in advance of the evening. Registration details can be found on the Longford Sports Partnership and Longford AC Facebook pages. The run includes a chip-timed option (entry fee €2.50) and starts at 7.30pm with the walk starting at 7.45pm. Participants are encouraged to glow from head-to-toe wearing neon clothing!

Couch To 5k: A beginners Couch To 5k programme has begun on Tuesdays at 8pm at the Mall. All welcome. Email longfordac@gmail.com for more information.

Co Longford Primary Schools Cross Country Championships: The County Longford Primary Schools Cross Country Championships takes place at Moyne CS on Sunday, 10 October. The first race starts at 4pm. Races are for children in third class and older. Full details on the Longford AC Facebook page.

Cross Country: Other upcoming cross-country events: 23 October – Connacht Primary Schools, Senior League. 31 October – Connacht Even Ages, Junior, Senior League. 7 November – Connacht Uneven Ages, Senior League. 21 November – National Even Ages, Junior, Senior. 5 December – National Uneven Ages, Novice.

Community Games: Good luck to all Longford athletes competing at the National finals in Carlow this weekend.
