Connacht U14-19 Track and Field Championships
Superb performances from our athletes at the Connacht U14-19 Track and Field Championships in Sligo on Saturday last.
Road Races
John Scott had an excellent run at the Thoroughbred Marathon in Kildare on Sunday taking the win in 2:58. Congratulations to John on what was his third sub 3-hour marathon in 7 weeks. The Dunshaughlin 10k on Saturday, one of the most competitive races in the country, again saw big numbers and fast times. Both Fiona Gettings and Edel Mooney ran strongly for fantastic times to be well under 40 minutes with Fiona home in 38:04 and Edel in 39:18. Adrianna Mulligan was first woman and third overall at the Newtowncashel 5k on Thursday. Barry Hall and Brenda McNerney also ran well. Paddy Sharkey, Colin Beades and Anne Brady achieved podium places in the 10k with Donal Mulligan, Seamus Murtagh and Philip Bannister across the line not long after.
National Senior Track and Field Championships
Best of luck to Yemi Talabi, Aaron Kelly, Nelvin Appiah and Cian McPhillips at the National Senior Track and Field Championships in Santry this weekend.
Friday Athletics
This Friday, 24 June, is the final evening of juvenile and little athletics before the summer break. It will also see a change of venue in moving to the grass soccer pitch at St. Mel’s College. Well done to the girls and boys for all their attendance at athletics in such good numbers over the past few months and we look forward to returning in September at our new indoor centre.
