Connacht Children’s Team Games and Under 12-13 finals

A great day of athletics at the Connacht Children’s Team Games and Under 12-13 finals in Sligo on Saturday last. 48 children from the club took part and well done to all for performing so well on the day.

John Fitzpatrick won an outstanding three gold medals taking first place in the U12 shot put, high jump and turbo javelin.

Also achieving medals with their excellent performances were Sinéad Masterson (U13, high jump) and Oisín Dillon (U13, 600m) both winning silver while Izzy Masterson (U13, 80m) sprinted her way to bronze. Congratulations to our medallists who have secured qualification for the All-Irelands in Tullamore next month.

The Longford AC athletes on the day were Darcey Brady, Holly Brady, Georgia Brady, Conor Brennan, Philip Davis, Cara Davis, Oisin Dillon, Sean Eager, Caoimhe Eager, Louisa Ferguson, Andrew Fitzpatrick, John Fitzpatrick, Rian Foley, Saoirse Gannon, Cian Geoghegan, Cadhla Golden, Ronan Grealy, Kaylee Harte, Abigail Hughes, Sophie Joyce, Eve Joyce, Ciara MacCormaic, Evan Maher, Grace Masterson, Sinéad Masterson, Izzy Masterson, Jamie McCaffrey, Rian McCaffrey, Eamon McGinnity, Eoghan Mulligan, Zoe Mulligan, Tadhg Murphy, Molly Raine Murphy, Adam Mulleady, Dean Mulleady, Jessica Neary, Charlie Nolan, El’Nathan Okoh, Timothy Sheridan, Setanta Smith, Sophia Smith, Katie Smyth, Jack Smyth, Lara Trappe, Ben Trappe, Lily Victory, Jack Waters and Leah Waters.

After a long day at the track on Saturday, many were back out the following morning at the county Community Games finals in Ballymahon with a number of club members among the medal winners. Well done to all.

Connacht Juvenile Track & Field Championships
Best of luck to our athletes competing in Sligo this Saturday at the Connacht Juvenile T+F for the Under 14-19 age groups.

The Connacht Senior Track Championships
The Connacht Senior track championships took place in Athlone on Sunday with Aaron Kelly the club’s sole representative. Congratulations to Aaron who won gold in the senior 100m and silver in the 200m and next up for him will be the Nationals in Santry at the end of June.

Strokestown 10k
On the roads, Adrianna Mulligan was first woman home at the Strokestown 10k in an impressive 36:34. Paddy Sharkey was a close second place in the men’s race in 33:59 just four seconds off top spot. There were good runs also by John Farrell and Sandra Donaldson.
