Ray Flynn Mile
To mark 40 years of Ray’s status as Ireland’s fastest-ever miler, the Ray Flynn Mile returns on Wednesday September 21 at 7pm. Registration is open at the Pop Up Races website. Ray will be there on the evening during his visit back to Longford from his home in Tennessee. The mile will be held in and around the grounds of St. Mel’s College where Ray’s running story began.
Schools Cross Country
In a change to the originally scheduled date, the Schools Cross Country will now take place on Sunday 25 September. Moyne Community School hosts the event with the first of four races for Co. Longford Primary Schools starting at 5pm. These will be followed by Post-Primary School races open to schools in or outside Longford.
Royal Canal Camino
The Royal Canal Camino Walk takes place on Saturday October 1. The 36-kilometre route commences at Abbeyshrule finishing beside St. Mel’s Cathedral. Coach transfer before the walk will bring participants from the event HQ at St. Mel’s College to the starting point. The walk is a fundraiser for the completion of our new indoor athletics centre at the College. Full details at www.royalcanalcamino.ie
