Results
Club members performed very well at the Connacht Schools Cross Country in Loughrea on Sunday. Moyne CS pupil Emma Brennan finished an excellent second place in the minor girls race as she and her Moyne teammates, including Mia Kiernan and Leah McVeigh, secured silver in the team standings. Mercy Ballymahon’s Rachel Keenan and Robin Og Murphy both had superb runs in the junior race with Rachel in third place and Robin Og in fourth. Max Gallagher, also Mercy Ballymahon, ran well for eighth in a competitive minor boys race. Well done to all who have achieved qualification for the All Irelands in Belfast on 12 March.
On the roads, the blustery conditions at the Trim 10 mile didn’t prevent Fiona Gettings and John Farrell from running strongly. Fiona’s time of 62:46 saw her 11th woman home for a second-place age category finish.
Training
Couch to 5k takes place at the Mall every Tuesday at 7.30pm and Thursday at 7pm. Interval training is every Tuesday at 6.30pm also meeting at the Mall car park. Juvenile and Little Athletics continues this Friday evening. Further information on the Longford AC Facebook page. New members welcome.
Ardagh Road Races
The rescheduled Ardagh 10 mile and 5k is on Saturday 26 February at 1pm and it will also include a Primary Schools one mile run. Register at the MyRunResults website.
