Weekly News – 24th August 2020

National Senior T+F: Well done to Cian McPhillips, Nelvin Appiah and Aaron Kelly on fine performances at the National Senior Track & Field Championships in Santry last weekend. Following a composed win in his 1500m heat, 18-year-old Cian lined up beside some of Ireland’s leading senior middle-distance athletes in Sunday’s final. He ran well to finish 5th in 3:52 and the experience will certainly stand to him in future. Nelvin finished 5th also in the high jump with a best effort of 1.95m. The breezy conditions made it difficult for high jumping so a good showing by Nelvin in a competitive event. Despite running into a headwind, Aaron ran his 100m heat in a PB time of 11.67. His 4th place was outside the qualification places. Injury unfortunately prevented Yemi Talabi from competing. Good luck to Cian (800m), Nelvin (110m hurdles) and Aaron (200m) this coming weekend in the second part of the championships.

Juvenile Training: Training for juvenile members born in or before 2010 will return on Friday 11th September on the astro pitch at the Mall. Sessions will be structured in line with AAI/Sports Ireland guidelines. Emails have been sent to parents with regards to the return of juvenile training.
