Millrose Games: Nelvin Appiah and Cian McPhillips jetted to New York last week to compete at Saturday’s Millrose Games. Cian ran in the New Balance Boys Mile – a race which features the top high-school runners from across the United States. He ran a terrific tactical race to take victory in 4:10.95. It really was a wonderful performance. Footage of the race can be viewed on the Longford AC Facebook page.

Nelvin competed in the Jane & Gary Muhrcke Invitational 60 metres. He was unfortunate to have some bad luck which hindered his performance however he certainly gained great experience travelling to and competing at such a prestigious event.

Results Roundup: Yemi Talabi competed in the 60m at the AAI Indoor Games in Abbotstown on Sunday. She followed an earlier 7.59 seconds in her first run with a new personal best of 7.52 later in the afternoon. Best of luck to Yemi in the Long Jump at the Grand Prix meet in Athlone on February 12th. This is the first time a Longford AC athlete will compete in senior competition at the AIT Grand Prix.

Kate Hagan put in a strong performance at the National Juvenile B cross country in Wicklow on Saturday. She finished in 9th place in the under 17 3000m on a testing hilly course.
