A number of club members took in the annual Good Friday Noel McManus Memorial Run/Cycle in Mohill despite the cold and wet conditions. In the 5k, Julie Taitt placed third in the female category while Daniel Higgins narrowly missed out on a podium spot in the male category placing fourth. There were great runs also by Dermot Washington, Mervyn Graham, Teresa Blake, Anne Newman, Eleanor McLoughlin, Kyle Casey, Carol O’Brien and Marissa Hebron.

Patryk Prusak claimed second place in the 10k with a strong showing on an undulating course. Tara Gately and Caitriona Moore both achieved new personal bests with good runs also from Carmel Corr and Patricia Hughes. John Farrell took in the half marathon and did well in the far from ideal conditions. Anne McDermott and Jacqueline Mahon traded their runners for bikes for the 40k cycle.

Gavin O’Reilly was the club’s sole representative at Friday’s Roscommon 5k series achieving a top ten placing.

Plenty of local interest in the Royal Canal Run this coming Saturday. Best wishes to all taking part in that event and also to Fiona, Ashley and Michelle at Sunday’s National Road Relays in Dublin.
