Another busy weekend of club activity with seven Longford AC athletes among the 1000 people lining up at Sunday morning’s Rathfarnham 5k. Good performances all around with Adrianna Mulligan clocking 17:22 for 10th lady home. There was another excellent run by Edel Nolan with her first sub-20 minutes for 5k crossing the line in 19:54. Declan Newman, Ross Gannon, Donal Mulligan, Michael O’Hara and Eleanor McLoughlin each recorded quick times too on a good morning for fast running.

The Streets of Berlin produced an incredible new women’s marathon world record but among the thousands completing the distance also was John Scott with a strong 2:51 for his eleventh outing over 26.2 miles so far in 2023 with more to come.

Adrian Wrobel and Patryk Prusak took on the Seven Sisters 55k Challenge in Donegal on Saturday which involved scaling the seven peaks of the Derryveagh Mountains. Underfoot conditions made it difficult, but the duo completed the distance well together. It was 120k for Juraj Karcak at the Big Bear Ultra in Slovakia in very wet weather to add to the challenge but all that didn’t stop Juraj in notching up another ultra!

A day before her 5k PB exploits in Rathfarnham, Edel was one of seven club coaches that completed the Level 1 Coaching Course at the Indoor Centre. Well done to Eoin, Sinead, Barry, Sharon, Edel, Philip and Maureen. Thanks to course tutors Bashir, Jackie and Mary.
