Adding another All-Ireland title to her collection, Fiona Gettings won gold in the 3000m at the National Masters Track and Field Championships in Tullamore on Saturday. Once again, an excellent run by Fiona who not only won her own age category but set the fastest time of all categories.
Saturday’s win completes an impressive clean sweep of National titles achieved by Fiona in 2023. In February, she won age category gold at both the 4k Cross Country and the Indoor Track 3000m. April saw victory at the 10k Road Championships with Saturday’s first place adding Outdoor Track success to the roll of honour. Congratulations Fiona!

John’s next marathon appearance will be in Longford on Sunday week.

At the Ballinamore road races also on Sunday, Edel Nolan set a new personal best time in the 10k as second lady across the line. Patryk Prusak placed third in the men’s 10k while Ross Gannon was second place finisher in the 5k.
