National Senior Championships
Fiona Gettings was the club’s sole representative competing at the National Senior Championships in Abbotstown last weekend. She produced a strong run in Saturday’s first heat of the 1500m clocking an indoor personal best time of 4:39. A seventh place finish for Fiona which was just one place outside the qualifying spots. The heat was won by Sarah Healy who would go on to convincingly claim the gold medal in Sunday’s final.
Seville Marathon
There was Longford representation once again at the annual Seville Marathon held on Sunday last with Claire and Rachel Mulligan making the trip to the south of Spain. After months of training through dark winter evenings, the blue skies were a welcome relief. The rising temperatures did however make for an even more challenging final few miles with the mother and daughter finishing together following good runs.
