The club was well represented at the Connacht Under 9-11 Pairs and U12-13 Track and Field in Claremorris last Saturday. Plenty of fun was had and many medals won as part of a busy programme of athletics. Ashlee Brady and Emily Weafer were our star pairing teaming up for gold in the U10 Turbo Javelin and for silver in the 60m. Ashlee took home individual gold too with the longest javelin throw while Emily claimed silver in the sprints.
Setting the fastest time of 35 entrants, Joe Rooney took the honours in the U11 60m. He also won gold in the pairs event as he and Jairo Aklassou combined for the quickest time. Another fast pairing was Seán Clendenning and Iarlaith McKeon who teamed up for silver in the U9 60m. Also showing quick feet, Vilte Krasikova won an individual silver medal in the U11 60m.
Andrew Fitzpatrick amassed a mighty medal haul with a trio of individual gold medals when topping the podium in the U12 Shot Put, High Jump and Turbo Javelin as he showed excellent form ahead of the upcoming National Championships. He had earlier teamed up with Paul Aigbogun, El’Nathan Okoh and Adam Mulleady for gold in the U13 4 x 100m relay. El’Nathan added two more golds with success in the High Jump and he was the fastest of 33 boys in the 80m. Paul later added silver in the Long Jump following a best effort of 4.45m.
