The club was well represented at the Connacht Under 9 – 13 Track and Field in Galway last Saturday. Our U12 speedsters Vilte and Joe each completed a Connacht 60m double with brilliant performances. They both added outdoors gold to their indoors success in February and can now look forward to the National Championships later this month.

Bryan and Caeden claimed fantastic silver medals in the U9 60m pairs to also secure qualification to the Nationals. Emily has also qualified for Tullamore after her bronze medal win in the U13 Long Jump.

Adam had a longest effort of 3.48m to win a superb silver medal in the U10 Long Jump while Hannah sprinted her way to brilliant bronze in the U10 60m. Also winning bronze was Ashlee who placed third in the U11 Turbo Javelin with a super new personal best distance thrown.

Louis and Jonah jumped well as did Rachel and Mollie in their Long Jump events. Philip and Dean ran strongly on the track while Ted and James launched the Turbo Javelin out a good distance. Dylan and Páidí took in their first club event and both ran well against tough competition.

Andrew had another outstanding day of performances. Gold medals were won in the U13 60m Hurdles, Javelin and High Jump with the latter seeing him clear 1.50m to equal the Connacht record (held by his big brother John) to round out a very enjoyable day of events.

Well done to all our athletes:
Caeden Geoghegan, Bryan Mulleady, Louis Fitzpatrick, Jonah Mullin, Páidí O’Neill, Adam Duke, Dylan Brady, Hannah Deely, Ted Fitzpatrick, James Bunjaj, Rachel Mullin, Ashlee Brady, Philip Davis, Dean Mulleady, Joe Rooney, Vilte Krasikova, Andrew Fitzpatrick, Emily Oge Nnachi and Mollie Sheridan.

Good luck to all from Longford AC competing at the Connacht Championships, for the older age groups, on Saturday in Sligo.
