Friday was a landmark day for the Club with the official opening of the Longford Athletics Centre carried out by Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys TD.
Support received through the LEADER programme, co-funded by the Department of Rural and Community Development and the EU, as well as assistance by Longford Local Community Development, Longford Community Resources Clg and Longford County Council have all played a pivotal role to ensure the successful development of the Centre. We are also very grateful to building sponsor Kiernan Structural Steel Ltd and club sponsor O’Boyle & Co Accountants for their generous support.
Joining us also were our local public representatives, who have all provided great assistance to the Club with the project, along with members of the Club Committee, Coaches and a number of our young athletes.
All in attendance on Friday were very impressed with the Centre and with plans in place for its continued development with additional equipment, we look forward to the great health and recreational benefits such a modern facility will provide to all ages and abilities.
