This was the 7th year that Longford Athletics Club has hosted the Primary Schools’ Relay Races and we had the participation of 475 children running in the relays and subs races.
12 primary schools across the County took part: St Mel’s NS, Ardagh; St Matthew’s NS, Ballymahon; St Sinneach’s NS, Colehill; St Colmcille NS; St Patrick’s NS, Dromard; St Mary’s NS, Edgeworthstown; Fermoyle NS; Killeen NS; St Teresa’s NS, Killoe; Melview NS; Scoil Mhuire NS, Newtownforbes; Tashinny NS
Congratulations to St Mary’s NS, Edgeworthstown (30pts) on winning the Ray Flynn trophy for the best overall school for the 4th year in a row. As two schools were tied on 13 points the place was determined by which school won the most races so 2nd place went to St Mel’s NS, Ardagh as they won 2 races and 3rd place St Teresa’s NS, Killoe as they won one race.
