Club activity will resume in September at the new indoor centre located on the grounds of St Mel’s College. The centre’s opening follows many years of hard work towards providing an athletics facility for Longford. Club coaches and committee are busy putting the final touches to the interior of the building ahead of September.
With moving indoors, the scheduling of athletics will change to it being held for smaller group sizes over different times of the week. Further information on the centre and the timetable will be communicated to parents in late August when parents can select their child’s training slot.
In preparation for this new scheduled approach to weekly athletics, membership for children born in or after 2010 has now been capped at its current number for the remainder of the year. We are unable to accept new registrations of children born after 2009 until next January.
Please note that club membership is by calendar year with all existing memberships in effect until 31 December.
We would very much welcome new coaches/assistant coaches and volunteers to join our team for the move indoors. An Athletics Leader coaching course for all interested will take place prior to the return of Juvenile and Little Athletics and will be advertised closer to the time.
