Congratulations to Fiona Gettings on a superb run at the British & Irish Masters Cross Country in Dublin last Saturday. In a very competitive 6000m race on the mainly firm Santry course, it was a day for fast running. Fiona produced an excellent performance to place fourth in her age category and helped Ireland, as second finisher on the team, to win over-40 team silver medals.

With three to score, Ireland’s tally of 14 points was only narrowly behind winners England with 13. Fiona was joined on the team by Dymphna Ryan (Tipperary), Michelle Kenny (Cork) and Kate O’Neill (Dublin). Following her strong run at last month’s trial race, Fiona clearly revelled in the experience of competing in the green singlet at a home international during the 5-nations event in Santry Demesne to add to her array of sporting accomplishments.
