A busy few hours of multi-events on Sunday as five of our young athletes took part in the Juvenile Pentathlon competition of 60m Hurdles, High Jump, Long Jump, Shot Put and 800m.
Lining out for the club at the National Indoor Arena were Cadhla Golden, Sinead Masterson, Darcey Brady, John Fitzpatrick and Rian McCaffrey and all put in excellent performances.
The day’s highlight was a superb silver medal won by John in the Under-14 boys’ category which included a couple of new personal bests. Congrats John.
An outstanding series of results by Tomas McGrath (Ashbourne St. Andrews AC) earned the top spot on the podium.
Darcey set the fastest time in the U15 girls 800m while Rian clocked the second fastest time of the U15 boys.
Sinead leaped to an impressive 1.50m in the High Jump as she went on to place seventh of the U15 girls. Cadhla, competing in the U14 girls category, also achieved some personal bests and good placings in what was her first Combined Events competition.
Very well done to our five athletes and all will have gained valuable experience which they can bring towards the upcoming Connacht Indoors.
Great credit to coach John for all the training and advice provided over the past couple of months ahead of today’s event in Dublin.
