Important: Information for Parents of Our Young Athletes

Hello all parents of children involved in athletics,

A few important things to pass on to you all as we come to the end of the year.

Club AGM Sunday December 1st at the Longford Arms Hotel at 6pm

The Club is expanding and this is the opportunity for ALL our members to give their input for planning the year ahead. More adult volunteers are essential for coaching and administrative roles for 2020. Please get involved!

We absolutely need 2-3 more parents to take an active role at Little Athletics on Friday evenings as some of the coaches are going to move to the outdoor group in January with their own children. It is very plain, if there are not enough adult volunteers then Little Athletics won’t go ahead. Garda Vetting and Safe Guarding child protection workshop must be completed before Jan 1st….

Annual Churchgate Collection: weekend of 23rd\24th November across the whole County. We need help to cover as many churches as possible, please don’t shy away from this local fundraising opportunity; ALL hands are needed! Text Mick O’Hara 087-8214921 to let him know which church you can collect at.

Free training for adult volunteers in coaching: Athletics Leader coach training workshop, Wednesday December 4th (9:30am- 3:30pm) in Edgeworthstown totally FREE delivered by the Connacht Development Officer. The usual cost is 60 and is rarely offered in Longford! This is the first step on the coaching pathway and will give confidence to parents involved for 1st time coaching. Please reply back ASAP to secure a place, its FREE!

Update on search to get facilities – the Task Force set up last year has been very busy meeting with politicians and the County Council and applying for funding, the latest details will be given at the AGM

Raffle Ticket Sales- All members and their families are encouraged to turn in completed ticket books they have sold with the corresponding money to Mick\Sean any Friday evening at Little Athletics training. Hold on to any unsold books and keep at it as the draw is not until January 2020. Online option to purchase tickets is on the Club website so even family and friends in America, England, ect…can buy a ticket and be in with a chance to win the grand prize money!

Registration for 2020 – in late December a link will be sent to all present and past members to complete the form online and an evening to pay will be held in early January. Club membership is for the entire calendar year Jan 1st to Dec 31st.
