Excellent weather for successful start to Summer Running Series 2012

The 3^rd annual Longford Athletic Club Summer Running Series got off to an excellent start in glorious sunny conditions with warm weather for the time of year with 66 athletes competing on the day in the 5K Road Race.  First home and a regular winner of these races was Martin Lyons of Mullingar Harriers in a time of 16 minutes and 48 seconds.  Second male home was Clive Glancy of Carrick on Shannon Athletic Club in a time of 16 minutes and 56 seconds while Ken Whitelaw of Mullingar Harries was third in a time of 17 minutes and 05 seconds.  First local home was Donal Mulligan who continues to improve with every race and finished in a time of 17 minutes and 47 seconds. First lady home was Sinead Roche of Mullingar Harriers in a time of 18 minutes and 31 seconds and ensuring Mullingar athletes won both Men’s and Women’s events.  Second female was Eileen Donohue in a time of 21 minutes and 33 seconds and third female was Noreen Colreavy in a time of 21 minutes and 35 seconds.  There was the usual post race refreshments at the Computer Clinic with Liam heading up the excellent tea and coffee making service which was much appreciated by everyone.  The club would like to thank everyone who was involved in the organization of the event, without these loyal helpers, the race could not take place.
