On the 19th of February 2012 Ethan Byrne was exactly 2 and a half years old. That day he was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. No child should ever have to experience what this little boy has. His diagnosis was high risk for relapse. Ethan’s battle has not been an easy one. So far he has undergone 8 months of intense treatment. This period involved very toxic chemotherapy, numerous lumbar punctures, high dose steroids, numerous blood and platelet transfusions, many infections, hospital stays, IV antibiotics, Major appetite and feeding issues and an overwhelming amount of emotional and physical pain.

Ethan began his maintenance therapy in October 2012. This involves steroids for 5 days a month every month which stop the growth of cancer cells, chemotherapy once every three months into his spine, an additional chemo once a month every month into his hickman line, another chemo once a week orally and then another one every day orally. Ethan will continue to have chemotherapy every day until July 2015. Despite all of the above he remains so strong. He is clever, entertaining, chatty, inquisitive, funny, cheerful and heartbreakingly brave all at the same time. This little boy has had a very important phase of his childhood stolen from him. Overnight his life changed dramatically. Please help us & support Ethan throughout this tough time.
