Connacht Juvenile Indoors Championships 2022

The Connacht Juvenile Indoor Championships are scheduled to take place on the 19th and 20th February at TUS Athlone IT. This is an important event in the club’s calendar, and it is always a great experience for first-time competitors.

Club coaches want to get an idea of the number of children who would like to compete in Athlone. This will help us plan upcoming training sessions, including two training sessions in Athlone.

Events and age categories

Saturday, 19 February

  • Under 12 (born 2011): 60m, 600m, 60m Hurdles, 4 x 200m Relay, Long Jump, High Jump, Shot Put, Walk
  • Under 13 (2010): 60m, 600m, 60m Hurdles, 4 x 200m Relay, Long Jump, High Jump, Shot Put, Walk

Sunday, 20 February

  • Under 14 (2009): 60m, 800m, 60m Hurdles, 4 x 200m Relay, Long Jump, High Jump, Shot Put, 1k Walk.
  • Under 15 (2008): 60m, 800m, 60m Hurdles, 4 x 200m Relay, Long Jump, High Jump, Shot Put, 1k Walk.
  • Under 16 (2007): 60m, 200m, 800m, 1500m, 60m Hurdles, 4 x 200m Relay, Long Jump, High Jump, Shot Put, Walk.
  • Under 17 (2006): 60m, 200m, 800m, 1500m, 60m Hurdles, 4 x 200m Relay, Long Jump, High Jump, Shot Put, Walk.
  • Under 18 (2005): 60m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 60m Hurdles, 4 x 200m Relay, Long Jump, High Jump, Shot Put, Walk.
  • Under 19 (2004): 60m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 60m Hurdles, 4 x 200m Relay, Long Jump, High Jump, Shot Put, Walk.

Points to Note

  • Dates subject to confirmation.
  • Please complete the short expression of interest form below if your child would like to take part. Please submit your expression of interest before 26 January.
  • Excluding relay, a child can enter at most three events
  • Two club training sessions will take place at the venue in Athlone on Friday 28th January and Friday 4th February at 7:30pm. The training fee is €5 per child per evening.
  • All children attending the Athlone training sessions and at the Championship must be registered members for 2022.
  • Under 12 is the youngest age group for indoor athletic competition.
  • Entries for the Championship will be finalised at training in Athlone on 4th February with a fee of €5 per child per event to be paid to ensure entry. No entries will be taken after this date.
  • Under 12 is the youngest age group for indoor athletic competition.
  • The club training session and the Championship are subject to change depending on Government restrictions in place at that time.
