There were great results for the Longford AC teenage athletes at the All-Ireland Schools Championships. We now have 2 All-Ireland Schools Champions in high jump and sprint, plus Silver & Bronze medallists. Congratulations to all the competitors, what a great way to end the school year!

Moyne Community School

Nelvin Appiah- 2nd year in a row All-Ireland Schools High Jump Champion when he cleared 2.10m for a thrilling new pb to win Gold in Senior Boys High Jump and 6th place in the 100m 10.89 seconds.

Cian McPhillips- Silver in the Senior Boys 800m, time of 1:53.41 min

Yemi Talabi- Bronze in the Intermediate Girls 100m, in 12.27 sec and 4th place in Long Jump (5.65m)

Kate Hagan- 10th place in the Junior Girls 1500m in time of 5:11.56 minutes

Gospel Idahor- Senior Girls 400m 7th place, 1:00.14 min

Funmi Talabi

Ardscoil Phadraig, Granard 2nd year student Funmi Talabi winning Gold in the Minor Girls 100m sprint, with a new pb at 12.35 seconds, at the All-Ireland Schools Championships in Tullamore on 1st June 2019. Funmi has been fastest girl in her age group in Connacht since she was U9 and has excelled in Community Games so we are very proud to see her reaching the national schools podium. photo by Keith McClure Photography

Yemi Talabi

Yemi Talabi captured in action in the Inter Girls 100m final at the All-Ireland Schools Championships on June 1st in Tullamore. She worked hard to win Bronze at 12.27 seconds in a very talented line-up. Yemi finishing in 4th place in Long Jump at 5.65m.
This is Yemi’s third year to compete: In 2018 Yemi won Gold in the Intermediate Girls Long Jump 6.02m and set a new CBP. In 2017 she was the Bronze medallist in the Junior Girls 100m, 12.82 sec, and took 4th place in Junior Girls Long Jump, 5.10m. photo by Keith McClure Photography
