Well done to the nearly 30 children from Longford AC that took part in the U9-11 Indoor Competition at Athlone IT on Saturday 4th May 2019. This is the 4th year that the Roscommon Athletics Board has invited Longford to take part in this event and it proved to be a great day out again this year.

All of our youngest athletes got the opportunity to try out all 4 events: sprint, middle distance, long jump and turbo javelin. It was a learning experience for both athletes and parents with all races done on timed results. For some of the children this was their first time representing Longford AC and wearing their new blue singlets. Taking part to try new things and showing good sportsmanship by all the competitors is important to learn from the beginning because not everyone can win a medal.
Many of our Longford athletes performed very well to reach the podium and you can see the wonderful smiling faces from the photographs!

The results from this competition are used as a guideline to make the pairs for the upcoming Connacht Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday 8th June 2019 at Dangan Sports Facilities in Galway.
